Halloween has passed..... but the evening started early with trick-or-treaters at the door around 4:30pm because there was a ballgame at school that night. I was not able to dress for the occasion, somehow it really didn't matter. As I sat ouside with my "black pot" full of candy, I began to reminence the days when my children were younger. Now, costumes for instance are more commercialized, about half of the kids would say "Trick-or-treat" to you before expecting getting the candy and some kids ran from house to house so fast trying to beat others first. Then there were those who really got into the theme of Halloween, just having fun. As I looked around the neighborhood with everyone outside smiling and laughing, it brought a little sadness to me because I no longer have little ones to share this season with. I did enjoy seeing those who have grown up from the time they stayed at the daycare, some even had children of their own. Now that really makes me feel OLD! Kids stopped coming to the house around 8:30pm, just wonder how many yards would be rolled with toliet paper tonight. I remember the days when school kids would carry eggs in their coat pockets to throw at each other and have war with one another as they ran thru the neighborhood, behind houses, in yards, hiding on roof tops to bombard groups as they came by, and always the Flora cops would chase them thru yards to confiscate the eggs, all was done in fun and most of the time it was allowed as long as you did no damage to property or vehicles. Those were the days, so glad I was a part of it. Saw Tina and Nikki with her daughter, just brought back memories of days when, how I wish we could do it all over again. Missed you!

Well it is Halloween night,i am here in IL. remembering back on a lot of halloweens when you were at home. I remember how you would get dressed up in your camouflage clothes early in the day, could hardly waite for it to get dark, probley not much going on in flora tonight at least not like when you were 15 years old. I also remember when you were real young and go out trick or treating come home and we would pour all your candy out and get all the hard candy out so that you would not get choked. Wish i was talking to you about the memories instead of doing this.

" Only the Best"

A heart of gold stopped beating,

Two shining eyes at rest

God broke our hearts to prove

He only takes the best.

God knows you had to leave us ,

but you did not go alone,

for part of us went with you

The day he took you home.

To some you are forgotten,

to others just part of the past,

but to us who loved and lost you,

the memory will always last.

I love and miss you

DAD
well your holiday is comming up Holloween,I know you enjoyed it probley more than the rest,I remember the time you and some of your friends had a pickup bed loaded full of cases of eggs, that was back when they were not so bad on the kids throwing eggs after the small kids got off the street. I guess the thing I will miss most is not being able to see you at christmas. I can remember so many christmas mornings setting down in the floor with you and playing with you and the toys that santa had left, you sure left me with a lot of good memories. I remember the times that santa would call you on the phone on christmas eve,I know santa for a lot of years would leave a presant on christmas eve, just something to make it a little easier untill christmas morning, I remember your mom and me asking what that noise was,we would say it sounded like someone came in the door,we would tell you to go look, and santa would have left you something inside the door. I know some christmas nights you would be wound up and not want to go to bed but santa did not mind I am sure that he had to spend a little extra time at your house waiting for you to go to sleep, that is something he enjoyed was putting your gifts out for christmas morning. I am sure that santa misses being able to do that very much. I sure wish santa could pull some magic trick out of his bag and turn the clock back, and we could set in the floor and play with your toys he left you. I remember your first B.B. gun that you got was probley 5 years old, shot the TV first thing, from then on until we got a nother TV a close up of anyone had a hole between the eyes. Remember when you got your four wheller, santa had left it  outside and left your helmet wwrapped under the tree,I remember you finally opening the helmet and saying why do I need this I did not get the four wheeler, and pappaw said he may had to leave it outside, you jumped up and ran to the door andd there it was you were one happy little fellow when you saw it. I remember santa leaving things for you to dress up your truck with. This I guess in memories I have of christmas from you being a babby to a young man,but there are many more in my mind and I will always remember them all. I know if you were still at home with us that santa would still be stopping by on christmas night to leave something, you probley would not get as excited as you did about the four wheller, but I know it would make old santa very happy to be able to do that.

So many memories where do I start.....  I remember playing hide in go seek in the neighborhood, playing basketball, playing Nintendo, etc.  I remember you and Chancey always getting into trouble or doing things that were so crazy but only expected that out of you two.  Just hanging out was the best thing I remember...  You all but lived at our house and you and Chancey were so close.  He was like your body guard... ha ha  He would have never let anything happen to you as long as he was with you.  I remember Halloween the best.  All the egg fights and the most fun was when your mom and my mom got together and were in your dads truck and came down the road with a dirt devil in their hand out the window making noise.  They were always so crazy (but we had the best parents ever).  That night we ran in a ditch but yall stopped and helped us but as soon as we got out yall got us good.  Then yall got on the roof and got us again.  That was a bad night but with so many memories.  Halloween was always the best!!!!!  I miss you and I know Chancey misses you too!!!  Love you always and forever...  Nikki (Gray)
